Caribbean Earth Day Reflections 2012
For Earth Hour on March 31st 2012, members of CYEN across the Caribbean celebrated this worldwide event in different ways. We have selected the activities in Grenada, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago to give you a feel for the activity in our region.
Members of CYEN Grenada and spectators alike all meet at Quarantine Point beach at 8:00 pm to celebrate Earth Hour. On site at the event, members light candles and obtained the support of restaurants in the area. They turned off their lights!
In Grenada candles in the form of the number 60 to signify 60 minutes for Earth Hour
In Trinidad members of CYEN-TT along with other environmental groups meet at the UWI St.Augustine Campus to celebrate earth day. At 8:30 the lights were turned off, a moment of silence was observed and then a story about the Earth and a message to be more respectful and appreciative to the Earth and its qualities.
Let your light shine! Earth Hour participants in Trinidad and Tobago.
In St. Lucia, members of the CYEN family meet at Serenity Park to celebrate Earth Hour 2012. At 8:30pm candles were lit in commemoration of Earth Hour.
